RG6 cable v TX100

I've always used the tx100 cable in the past as my cable runs were lengthy and I didn't want to take a chance with signal degradation.

I'll be installing "magic eyes" in the parent's house shortly from an existing sky box's rf2 port to a f140 amplifier/splitter in the attic and then from this I will have short cable runs of 20m and 15 metres to the 2 tvs. So I was curious if rg6 cable would suffice to save money, i.e. I can only source a 100 metre roll of tx 100 (and thus I'll have loads left over) that costs €59 while I can get 25 metres of rg6 for €11.94. So even by buying 2 of these, it'll still be half the price of the tx100 cable roll.

My concern about using the cheaper cable is that its signal retention won't be as good as the tx100 and it might lose more signal strength by routing it through the splitter. I've also heard that the "magic eyes" can be sensitive to interference in the cable which might be increased by using the rg6.

So should I shell out on the tx100 or save some cash by using the rg6?

The signal from the RF2 out of the sky box is UHF and as its much lower frequency than the satellite band good quality RG6 is fine. As a general rule the higher the frequency the better the standard of cable you need.

    Thanks Tony.

I just want to make sure the rg6 would suffice as my folks wouldn't let me off the hook if the proposed new set up didn't work.
