    Hey all.
Have been advertising my car for sale on and off for over a year now.
With not so much as a prank phonecall received.
My car is a 2001 BMW 318ci 81k miles uk import with all the trimmings.
I had it advertised at Eur7500, which I felt was below the average price being asked.(although I know its only worth what one will pay for it)
Myself and the girlfriend took pay cuts in work last year and normally car pool in her Panda when we're on similar shifts. I also bought a moped to bip around in, and the car has become a very unnessecary expense.Tax, insurance etc.
I'm not in a backs to the wall situation but would love to save money on running costs.Theres about 8k in loan outstanding on it and payments aren't an issue.I still require a car(not much fits in a moped!), and love the idea of a 1.4l . but parting with my car aint happining.
Theres not a single thing wrong with it and I take fantastic care of it in case anyone thinks its a s**tbox.:)
So what to do?.Would i get violated on a trade in?,Take a big hit on the price to sell?,or take up the kind offer from a colleague to burn it!?
Any constructive opinions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Overpriced, quick search on Carzone reveals that year and model going for between €5500 and €9500, realistically you need to price yours at around €6000 if you need to sell it, otherwise it's going to sit around for another year and lose another €2-3k in depreciation. Remember that next year the car will be 10 years old and will then require an NCT annually, this will make the car even less desirable. I know it's hard to sell a car for less than you feel it's worth but 2nd hand sales are hard in these times and you need to price it to sell.

Is it a term loan or HP agreement?

If its HP then you don't actually own it until the last payment is made

when you say it has all the trimmings, what kinda extras do you refer to? has it any of the following :
    Leather
    Factory Bluetooth
    Sat Nav Screen
    Heated Seats
Is it M-Sport or SE Spec?

    Thanks.

If the car is in perfect condition, no engine lights, no dents,
and you want a call tomorrow
The take a few decent photos and paint the tyres, and ask for €5995.

    Remember these simple facts,
cars lose 50% of their value after 36 months.

    You car is nearly 10!.

Out of curiosity, what formula have you based your selling price on. Its so wrong, it isn't funny.

i was thinking 4995 no offers priced to sell then take 4800

and that still seems a lot in this day and age

That would be a bit tricky for me with my very limited laptop skills and cack internet connection!.have a friend who's a member on boards, might get him to do it for me.I'll defo look at the price again though.

Haha by my Panda standards it has all the trimmings!
    Its an se spec.
Personally I'd never be looking for sat nav or heated seats.
    Thanks for your input.

The lads are right though, if it just has alloys, fogs and aircon there's no point in saying all the trimmings. Find the cheapest one with comparable mileage on Carzone, and undercut it. That's the only way it'll sell.

I'm aware of how old the car is.
No ones trying to be funny here.
I will take another look at the price.
    Thanks

Yeah I hear you PD."all the trimings" was just used above and never in an ad.it's minus sat nav, bluetooth and heated seats.thats all I think?
I think I'll undercut as much as poss and see what happens.
But as I said my backs not against the wall thankfully.

You've a huge advantage though, you're willing to step back and see what needs to be done. Everyone else asking 10k will still have their cars in 6 months time.

no problem, just make sure you dont advertise the car with "fully loaded" or "has all the extras available", as im sure your aware the SE is below the M-Sport trim and even the M-Sport trim doesnt come as standard with any of the extras ive listed.

Best of luck with the sale.
