    Hey

So I have a price bracket of around 500 euro and lookin to pick up a used or new double din unit with dvd, sat nav and bluetooth.

I was thinking about buyin the RNS 510 or The Kenwood DNX 5240. The RNS is a perfect fit for the golf.

Anyone know anywhere I can get one in my price bracket?

or anyone got any other suggestions for a head unit?

    thanks

Not quite matching your budget but I just recently had the Pioneer AVIC-F910BT installed in my MkV golf and it's the dogs!

    avic_f9110_bt_gallery.jpg

    avicf9110_vw_jetta_gallery.jpg

    Full 44 european country maps

ipod connection that will show cover art and all other info

    DVD player

    Touch screen

Imports all contacts from any bluetooth enabled phone.

Designed to fit the exact space of golf/seat/skoda double din headunits perfectly.

There is a cheaper version afaik that doesn't have the rounded edges and requires a mounting kit but still looks very well.

Similar story as Homer, I got a Kenwood DNX9240BT and it fitted perfectly into my Octavia. Fantastic piece of kit and looks like it came with the car day one.

Its not what I intended to get originally starting out with a budget the same as yours but to get everything in one unit, I really had to go up through the models. On the DNX5240, you are very unlikely to find one new for that budget but you could pick up different used one as per http://cgi.ebay.ie/Kenwood-DNX-7220-CD-DVD-DivX-MP3-Sat-Nav-Unit_W0QQitemZ250577326734QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_AudioTVElectronics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems?hash=item3a5792928e.

If it has to be new, you could look at http://www.dhgate.com/wholesale/in-dash-dvd-players/c210906.html#nhp-lc7-7. I can't vouche for this website but I mate of mine did pick up a single DIN dvd player for around $200. It wasn't perfect but what do you expect for that price:)

Not saying where I got it as I am sworn to secrecy on that but it worked out at about three times your current budget. One of the reasons I went for the high end model is because it had everything in one package including 5V preouts which is rare in all but the high end units and IMHO does make a difference to the sound quality obviously depending if you have an amp driving the system. If I had gotten a low spec model, wanted to add the different features like Garmin nav and bluetooth, it would have worked out way more expensive. Also I wanted a fully touch screen model, ie no large buttons to take from it but that is a personal thing.

Also when it comes time to move it on, because it has everything in one package, it should be easier to move on, not saying you will ever make a profit when it comes to car stereo's:(

The cheapest price i've seen on the web is about £1K sterling? Think the RRP IN EURO is about 1400.
I bought it through a contact I had in a pioneer car audio suppliers.
If you are based in dublin and would like to see the unit in operation you can have a look at mine, just pm me if you're interested.
I am getting the reversing camera fitted in a couple of weeks as I didn't have parking sensors as standard on the Gti.
It's simple to use and the software is very good including detail on maps. 3D landmarks. Import points of interest and speed camera locations etc

thanks very much for the offer! I have a GT TDI myself (195bhp) I have a cheap double din unit in at the mo, but I was never keen on it from the start tbh. I love the pioneer but the price is a bit outta my budget. I seen one on ebay going for around the 950 euro which seems good value. Im leaning towards the RNS 510, do you know anything about them?
The reversing camera is a brilliant idea, id say pricey though! how does that actually work? will u have a separate screen for the camera?

Reversing camera is about 100 euro plus fitting and automatically comes on the screen as soon as reverse is engaged.

Where would u get one supplied and fitted?

I had a guy called John from Integrated Car Technology Solutions fit mine and he did a superb job. Does the cameras and standard rear sensors also retro fit.
    Number is 087 9315333
