Help Iphone slide for emergency

Hi all
I need help,I got my Iphone 3gs 16gb off ebay from america,it was jailbroken and unlocked before i got it.I stupidly did a software update and afterwards i had no service so i held down the home and lock button to put into recovery mode,now all i get on iphone is slide for emergency,and a picture saying connect to itunes,which i do but it says sim card not supported and it has to be activated by original sim card.The phone was previously unlocked using blackra1n and cydia.I tried to use blackra1n to unlock it again but afterwards its exactly the same,i still only have slide for emergency.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the phones shsh files might be stored on sauriks server, maybe, if so you will be able downgrade, what you need to do, is download apple 3.1.2 firmware, and then try reinstall it, it'll only work if the previous owner hit the Make my Life Easier option when they first jailbroke, there is a good chance they did,

Tricky one ...

Do you know if Cydia ( saurik) server had your ECID shsh on file ?
It would have said so on the top of the Cydia window when Cydia was open?

If your shsh was stored with Saurik then you can try and attempt to restore your phone back to 3.1 .
I have put some instructions here on how to redirect your P.C to sauriks server 'v' the iTunes server.

if your sucessful then simply run blackra1n and blacksn0w afterwards to rejailbreak and unlock.
All depending on saurik server having those hash files :0

But will that work given the OP's circumstance i.e. the phone is constantly showing the 'connect to itunes' icon seems locked. I still think they'll need the original sim -- happened me when I was unlocking a friends...

If he sucessfully restores back to 3.1.2 using sauriks server he will still see this screen , but blackra1n will hacktivate his phone and get him past it .

My only concern is that no one to date can confirm that a phone updated ( officially) to 3.1.3 including the new baseband , has gotten a good result when restoring back to 3.1.2 ( via saurik server) and NOT getting any network problems , due to a clash between a 3.1.2 firmware and a 3.1.3 baseband this is a real possibility .

It sounds like the Dev team feel this 3.1.3 firmware release is nothing more than a Apple attempt to get the Dev team to show their hand prior to 4.0 been released.
Dev team have stated they won't " take the bait " , so im afraid if no one can get a restored 3.1.2 to work with the new baseband then Its sit tight til mid summer ( at the earliest) for movement from the Dev team .

I cant remember what cydia said about shsh files and cannot get past the slide for emergency screen to check,it might also be handy to know that im using a mac not a pc.Ill try everything that ive been told and let you know how i get on Thanks

Still no better off,after altering the shsh files,which go into terminal,if you use a mac,it still wont let me downgrade,it wont restore to whatever i try and ive tried a few.I tried using redsn0w instead of blackra1n and my phone wont reboot after the process.Im gonna try different sim cards like O2 and american ones like at&t if i can get it.Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
