Proposed move

Atavan-halen brought your recent Poll to the admins attention.

I've had a word to the cmods of games and of Arts. I've spoken to the other admins and I've gotten atavan-halen's advice. I've also read the original forum setup request and the poll that was posted. So, I've pretty much done my homework on this one and I've done my best to take all considerations into account.

I can now announce (cue Fanfair!)

the Pokémon forum's home will officially be.....here in Arts>TV

Now, before you start throwing fluffy badly drawn animals at me, let me explain the reason behind this decision.

There were some very good arguments for beign moved to the games category and that was pretty much agreed by all. However, on closer inspection, finding somewhere in the games category to put this was a harder job.

Roleplaying> well, there's already a forum called Japanese RPG which covers japanese themed Pen and Paper RPG as well as japanese themed/produced computer RPG games such as Final Fantasy etc. The only way to introduce pokémon here would have been to merge it into the Japanese RPG forum.

Strategy> theres already a collectible card games forum that used to just cover Magic:The Gathering but has , in a recent effort to cut down on tightly specific fora, changed to cover all CCGs such as the pokémon collectible card game. Again, moving here would have meant a merge and a loss of individual identity.

so, to retain a specialised place for the discussion of all things pokey, the best solution is to leave you where you are under the tenuous pretense that thsi forum is for everything and anything related to the Pokémon TV series and the various movies and DVDs.. that would include the games, the CCG and any comics etc.

I know some users were very excited about the posibility of a move to the games category but in the end, surely having a forum is more important than the actual location.

    thanks all

    Lolth.

Well, that's a disappointment for sure. I don't see how moving the forum to a sub-section of the game category would necessitate a merge with an already existing forum. And seeing as we talk a heck of a lot more about the video games (and if I dare say it, the various manga!) more than the TV show.

I have to say I'm happy with this.
I don't think that we have a problem in TV or that we'd do better in Gaming so I don't mind once there is a Pokeforum.
Btw I think we should all thank LoLth for his time on the subject.

While I still believe the Pokeforum would fit better under games, at the end of the day it doesn't really matter where it goes. There's not a massive amount to be gained form a move.

The fact that it even exists is the most important part.

because we have to consider future forums and where they are going to go. If someone says , hey, there's a Harry potter computer RPG game out, can we have a forum in Games>RPG for it?

    we say "no"

they say "but pokémon got one! admins = evil!!! /ragequit"

so our only option seeing as there is precedent set would be to allow the forum and soon enough the games forum is full of specific title forums like "tetris" , "final fantasy", "might and magic" "heroes of might and magic2 (cos they're so different!) etc etc until the drop down lists are huge and everyone is complaining that games needs a cleanup and , again, we group topics together and pokémon along with anything else that suits gets lumped into Japanese RPG and we either have tons of mods for one forum or we have one or two mods and then we have to find somethign to do with the mods who now , no longer have a home and the dublin dogs and cats home wont take them and Pedigree chum have already filled their vats with unnamed meat for production.

will you take atavan-halen home and feed him and train him and bathe him and make sure he gets enough exercise? Will you be the one to rub his belly?

    I didnt think so.....

    :p

While I accept the reasoning behind not moving it as solid, I am still a little disappointed. I'll try not to throw too many Jigglypuffs out of the pram (and at LoLth, the savage! :))

Disappointing but I understand the reasoning

(How about moving it to Animal & Pet Issues or Religion and Spirituality instead? :P)

Gonna lock this before it gets silly. It's all sorted now anyways.
