advice on trainers

I have just started jogging on a threadmill on the advice of my physio, as part of my training program to recover from a hip replacement last summer. Because of this I have to keep the speed fairly low to reduce impact on the hip. While I am doing fine so far on the threadmill I would like to start doing some road work but have been told that I would want to get a very good pair of trainers to cushion the impact.

I would appreciate any advice or recommendations on what trainers would fit the bill.

    Thanks

PS dont want to spend a fortune!:)

Don't go to a Champion Style Sports shop. Head along to somewhere that does the gait analysis and they will sort you out with the right type of shoe for the way that you run. Do a search in this forum for "gait" and a whole bunch of threads should come up with shop locations for you.

Edit: Here is the link to the search results for you.
