    www.openoffice.org might offer some solution.
Like Office but totally free. As far as I know you can save your doc files (a format which they have incorporated into it too) as PDF's.
You create your standard document, import the text/pictures and save it as a pdf.

The job itself is still a pain but at least its all in one app.

    Why do I need help ???????? :D

    Anyway, enough of that.

What system does the PDF worksheets you receive come from?

Instead of generating PDF'S, can it output in Word format instead?

I know you said you don't have word but that can be solved if it can be part of the solution.

Assuming that whoever is sending you the pdfs is also the person who generates them, then they should be able to create editable pdfs so that you can type directly into them, rather than printing, filling them in and scanning.

Get whoever is sending them to send as word documents (or whatever), you may then fill them in (on the computer), install something like PDFCreator, print the edited file to pdfcreator, it will then allow you send the fully edited form in pdf format via email, which means the final document will be in pdf, is this what you mean? Also follow advice above to getting open office so you can open the word files
