    Starts March 26th on ABC.

It's exactly like Jamie's School Dinners / Ministry Of Food... but even more scripted, with sob stories forced down our throats.

And it's going to be hosted by by Ryan "You're Going To Hollywood" Seacrest..!

No.. I have no idea how this is going to work!

But we've seen all this already! I'm sick of the "You're a fat bastard eat healthier" type of shows. Can't stand the scripted overly-produced Americanised versions of good British reality shows like wife-swap or kitchen nightmares and that sort of stuff.

Can't see jumbo american kids warming to Jamie's fruit, veg and mockney.

Speaking of the US screwing up international formats, Fox have signed Gordon Ramsey to do a US version of Masterchef (based on the Aussie format - think traditional weekly elimination format meets cooking show).

They'll make a balls of it.

I thought that Ramsey cookalong USA was a load of muck. Ramsay doesn't do the whole light entertainment well, he's better off being angry in the kitchen.

    I've only just discovered this.

I used to think Jamie Oliver was a bit of an annoying twat.
After watching this I have massive, massive respect for him.

How many of you have actually watched the program?
It took me ages to find it but got most of it on Youtube.

To be honest I now regard the man as some kind of hero after watching this. It's changed my opinion on him completely. And made me feel very sad about the terrible small-minded attitude of some people.

    But Oliver, yeah, much respect.

Yeah its a really good show. I'll tell you something - the guy has balls.
They really f**king hate him over there.

Yep, this very good.. albeit overly-saccharine (typical of US shows) and overly-scripted (even more typical of US "reality" shows).

But it's taken a massive dive (down 42%) in it's latest ratings.

Stephen Colbert had a couple of great clips of this last week. :D

Yep, it can be cheesy (as only Americans know how).
Ratings were down partially due to Good Friday/Passover.
It was still the most viewed program in its time slot.

The preview for this week's episode (shown at the end of last week's) shows that it's all becoming a bit familiar now for people who saw the UK version.

Remember.. there was the lunch-lady from the UK version who was completely against Jamie ideas and ended up helping him get it back up-and-running and now it looks like Alice (from the US one) is going to do the same.

Hardly a fecking coincidence.. goddamn US networks and their constant scripted spin on "reality TV".

    Bump..

.. this was back for a second season in the US last night.

2nd season just doesn't look as good to me for whatever reason.

Just started watching the first episodes this morning. All those kids who didn't know hwo to use a knife and fork - I really didn''t know whether to laugh or cry. Amazing to see an entire town full of morbidly obese people who don't realise that eating ****e all day long is not good for you.

I thought Jamie Oliver came off as pig-ignorant in that opening episode..

.. the scene where he tried to deal with the guy running the burger bar - and Jamie made a milkshake with yogurt and fruit, and the guy was saying that's not a milkshake in conventional terms, it's a smoothie. And Jamie came back with if it tastes good, then it's my milkshake.

Jamie.. that's fine.. but it's a smoothie. You can't call it a milkshake.. yogurt and fruit blended is a smoothie.

You can change eating habits, but you can't change dictionary definitions.

Yep, not to mention the PR for it, got to have those jumbo coffins in there...
Don't think I'll bother with the second series.

I don't mind Oliver and admire his passion for food and getting people cooking, but he's pushing the 'get involved in this cause' angle a bit too much now. I'd prefer it if he stuck to travelling around countries, learning about the food and culture and was only on our screens once or twice every 18 months or two years. I think it would be better for his TV profile.
