Have you it connected via scart?

If so is scart control turned on? You can check via Services / System setup / picture settings

Thanks Macjohn remote is now working but I am now getting some channels reverting from 16/9 to 4/3 screen ?????????????

Go back into the picture settings and change the scart/RF1 picture format and RF2 picture format to 16:9 and save it. Should sort that out.

That should sort it but if it doesn't (I have heard of tv's not coping well with 16:9/4:3 and scart control turned on, Matsui in particular I think have some issues with it) ) you may need to leave the scart control turned off and go the the av channel manually

if you have to do this, note you can use the sky remote rather than needing a second tv remote

press TV and then the help button to switch between tv and av

Might be worth trying the aspect button on the tv remote, it should then stay regardless of the imput - but may revert when you turn off the tv.

I have reset tv remote to 19:16 and stored the settings, but find that when I channel up or down from the channel that I have set AT 19:16 and return to that channel it reverts back 4:3

    Set output to 16-9,
Set scart control to on .
    Set rgb to on,
Take plastic cover off one end of scart lead and snip the wire going to pin number 8 (numbers are marked beside pins).
use tv and help button to switch between av inputs

But that brings the OP back to square one, the automatic SCART control doesn't work when pin 8 is disconnected. Is it really a problem to watch 4:3 material in its proper aspect ratio? The reason it does the 16:9/4:3 switching is because the programme is being broadcast that way.

It depends, sounds to me that the op does not want tv to switch to 4-3 but also wants automatic av working. With some tv,s you cant have both, The op can decide which is most suitable.

It should work, make sure the sky remote is programmed with the correct code.
Some "budget" brands may use a code from another brand, eg some Goodmans tv,s will use a Bush code etc. It depends on the chassis used and not neccesarily on the badge or name on the front of the tv.
Could you post the type of tv and the model number if you cant get it working.

I believe that tv uses a vestel chassis which can also be found in many other brands. Alba, Bush, Crown, Goodmans, Lodos, Matsui,Techwood are common in Ireland but there are a lot more. If you feel like experimenting then you could try some codes for these on your remote. Try the Goodmans 0335 code first. Remember you may have to press the tv and standby buttons more than once.

When you say that the remote is working fine, do you mean that it is switching to av1 when you push the sky button or are you switching it using the tv and help buttons.

The only way to get fullscreen pictures all the time on your tv is to follow steps in post no.11. The skybox is overiding the settings on your tv, it is a feature of this type of chassis, or you can use tv remote to switch screensize each time a 4/3 program is showing. Sorry.

Rather than the suggestion in post 11 would it not be as easy to turn off scart control again as with pin 8 gone the scart control wont work anyway - ie it wont pick up sky without manually going to av1.

Scart control must be on to enable rgb output.
