Apple Certified Trainer

    Hi,

Does anyone have any experience as an Apple Certified Trainer?

I have a multimedia degree and I would like to gain enough experience and skills to become an ACT.

I was a Tutor demonstrator of Adobe apps for 1 year - Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition.

Would working in an Apple Retail store as a 'creative' be sufficient experience?

Is there anyway to grow in such a role as an ACT?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards.

    Hi

I've only experience of the Pro Apps.

For instance with Final Cut Pro you need to be a FCP Certified Pro - you can do this by studying the book and taking a test at an approved test centre or attending a FCP100 or FCP200 course with an exam at the end. I'd advise doing the course as you need 80% in the exam to pass.

You then need to have that certification for a period of time (a year I think - although you might be able to make a case to shorten this) and then attend a TTT or Train the Trainer course and take an exam at the end (85% to pass as far as I remember). These usually happen in Paris and London (although they have happened in Ireland).

As soon as you have your primary trainer certification extending that to other products is a little easier. You won't need to attend further TTT courses. I think the process it that you study the books and then apply to Apple for a test code (you need to prove that you have been teaching your existing courses and that you use the product). Pass that test and you are then an Apple Certified Trainer for more than one product. I'm shakier on this end of things as I'm only an ACT in FCP

    Hi,

Thanks a mil for the detailed info. Are you solely an Apple trainer or do you use Final cut for production purposes?

I am concerned - is there is a big enough market for Apple trainers and will people eventually resort to e-learning videos to learn and do away with pro training courses?

    Regards,

    Ciarán.
