Faulty FTA receiver ?

I recently got an additional FTA receiver (Silvercrest SL45 HDMI), however, I notice that sometimes the picture on the SL45 'twitches' almost like a tracking fault (on an old VCR), the fault is intermittent, and especially noticeable on the scrolling text on Sky News.

Last night the picture was perfect, tonight the mild 'twitch has returned' on the scrolling text & the main picture

    Signal Intensity 91%
    Signal Quality 74%

Is this normal? or does it sound like my receiver has a fault?

Any advice ? I have been told that my dish might be misaligned, but surely with such a strong signal intensity & strength this cant be so? also, my other receiver is fine!

Swop the receivers around, if the problem shows up on the second point then the box is faulty, if it the problem remains at the first location then you have an lnb cable or alignment problem if the two cables are of great differening lengths.

    Hope this helps

Is that the LIDL one? Nearly bought one today as I have sound/video sync problems with one of their old COMAG ones.

If its a recent purchase take it back they are fine like that.

(Yes its the Lidl one) Thanks guys, the box in question is at the end of 65ft of satellite cable which might have been the problem, but I have brought down my other receiver & hooked it up in place of the Silvercrest, & its fine . . .

Must be a fault in the Silvercrest > I will get it exchanged for the same again.

Nice little box the SL45 (when it works) :)

What type of cable are you using for the 65 Ft ?

But did you test the Silvercrest one on the other cable to see if the cable run was part of the problem? If it works OK it might save you swaping over 2 and asking for a refund on the third if there is no problem.

btw whats on the CD in the box? pdf Manual?

Black coaxial 75 OHM screened (woven + foil).

Maybe the sensitivy on the Silvercrest is not up to the distance? in which case maybe I need one of these . . .

That wont help as it will incresae the noise level too which may be the issue. (remember the level and quality readings you had) If it was me i'd replace the cable with CAI approved low loss copper on copper.

Well, I changed the Silvercrest (for another) of the same make, & Bingo! :)

The first one was obviously faulty ............
