Dissability benefit or BTEA

Hi ive just a general enquiry ref the BTEA, do you loose DA if you apply for BTEA or do you recieve both? I know the BTEA is not means tested but can you hold onto the Dissability payment?

You give up the Disability Benefit during your course period and go onto BTEA. If your course is over a number of years, you go back on Disability Allowance during the summer and have to reapply for BTEA at the start of the new academic year.

You cannot claim both, however if you are receiving additional benefits with your disability allowance, such as free travel, esb units phone allowance , you get to keep these.
