Deleting and then replacing credit card details

    Hi.
I use my credit card to buy the odd thing on ebay and sometimes tickets on ticketmaster.

I don't like leaving my cc details on their sites so after a purchase i generally delete the details.

For the next purchase i reestablish the same cc details.

Is this tolerated- or is there a limit to the number of times you can do this.
I don't want to find out down the line that it's declined for this reason.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I've never had a problem.

Sorry I should add that people use internet cafes etc to book things and delete their details many times a day so I think it would be very unlikely.

You can only remove and re-add a credit card to Paypal twice. After that, they block the card number. If you're doing this, then you're not going to be able to use it for long.

As a matter of interest, why are you bothering to do this? Credit cards have insurance. What you're doing is a paranoid waste of time.

I dunno, i just don't like the idea of having the details there just protected by a password.
My rationale was if there was nothing there, then even if the account was compromised, there'd be nothing to use.
    Yeah i suppose it's paranoid.
I'll think about leaving it up.
    Thanks for your help.

it's not that paranoid tbh credit card details can be stolen very easily and chasing them for insurance isn't very easy.Use neteller or moneybookers if you want to add an extra layer of security.

It's more likely that your credit card details would be stolen from your bins our even your wallet, than an online shop. If it's your own password you're worried about, then use a good one. Also don't use public computers for your online shopping.

Any website that does store your card details will never display it fully anyway. So if someone does get your password, they won't be able to get your card number from it.

I just don't understand the need for extra layers of security like using pre-pay cards, etc, when there's less than an outside chance it'll ever be needed.

Yes, people in a shop could merely glance at it and remember it, I remember a Chinese lad in my local centra who just looked at a barcode on some bread which would not scan and he typed the entire thing down after, looked at it for a split second and had it memorised!

And use different passwords, I reckon many people have the same complicated one used on many websites.

If you only use your credit card the odd time it might be worth using 3v cards instead. At least you wouldn't have to worry so much.

I had a Paypal account before, which after I had added several different 3V vouchers (think 12, maybe 16), Paypal decided this was suspicious or something, and disabled the account. They sometimes send me email about it, but I can't log in. I had to create a new account with a different email address.

A silly question perhaps but when you get a 3V card and use all the credit on it, can you not go back to any payzone place and give them cash to add more credit onto the existing card, or do you have to get a new one?
