Nikon D50 with 18-55mm lens - Trade in or sell?

    Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my Nikon D50 DSLR kit (with original 18-55mm) lens to a Nikon D90 body, which I will pair with another lens.

I've been offered a disappointing trade-in value of €125-€150 subject to seeing the camera.

What's the going rate for private sale of a D50 kit? Mine is in excellent condition, has had light usage, is boxed and comes with all originally supplied parts. Could I realistically push for a better trade-in than €150?

    Many thanks.

Check what they're going for on adverts.ie, craigslist and ebay.

i'd say youd get circa 300 - 350 on adverts, i'm considering flogging mine at the mo and that seems going rate

Thanks for the replies. My investigations suggest €300 - €350 is a reasonable expectation for a D50 kit in good nick.

I'll sell privately if I have to, but I'm curious to know if camera shops really screw folks on trade-ins. Trade-in has the benefit of 'lack of hassle' and not having to sell the kit before upgrading, but it's not worth taking a €150+ hit for.

I just bought a d50 body in what appears to be perfect condition for 150 euro on adverts, the guy was looking for 220.

I saw that ad on adverts.is. Congrats on your purchase - I hope you get great use out of it. Mine has been the best camera I've ever owned.

I'm looking to upgrade to the D90 to pair with my Nikkor 18-200mm lens. I've popped an ad for the kit with a few extras on adverts.ie, but so far no interest. I may be forced to take a trade in, if I want that D90.

Thanks, i will, it seems like the best way to go for a cheap dslr to me.

If you get no luck on adverts try gumtree.ie or ebay.co.uk
