    Hi all.

I start a job next week as an apprentice butcher. Anyone have an idea of what I'd be earning a week? I'll be working 5 days a week. Would it be the same as a trade apprenticeship? Also it's my 1st job so do I have to pay emergency tax for my 1st year?

You certainly shouldn't end up on emergency tax for a full year. Once you provide your employer with your RSI number (from the grey card social welfare sent you around the age of 16) you should be fine.

No idea on rates of pay though as an apprentice I don't think the minimum wage applies.

You have to go to your tax office I think and they sort out your emergency tax worked as a butcher counter hand for years all the butchers I knew started at just above minimum wage but the more they learned the more they earned they got increases pretty frequently.
