From dole to self-employed

    Hi!
Im thinking to go from dole to self-employed. Going to apply for the scheme etc. Trying to do everything step by step. If I register just a business name through the CRO, does it already mean that I am self employed or not? Or it is only when you register in tax office for VAT?
    Thanks!

I am on the BTWEA (Enterprise Allowance) since last Feb. Registering with CRO does not automatically register you as self employed. Your local partnership or county enterprise board may be able to help you with this. Remember also that you do not have to register for VAT although it may be an advantage to do so. I chose not to be VAT registered.

Thank you very much! I am going to meet job facilitator and discuss if I can apply for the scheme.
How do you consider then that a person became self -employed for example for dole matters or in general?
