Cost to change - ideas

    Hi there,

Currently have an Audi A3 1.9 TDI Sportback 2005.
Full service history and 90000 miles.
    It's a uk import.

I am in the market for a new car and want to trade-in.

I was thinking along the lines of:

    a) Audi A3 2009 2.0TDI
Aside from UKDirect there doesn't seem to be any of these on the market at the moment.

I did read some good things about the 1.4 tfsi model and would consider this. I see one for sale at 22,950. What you think the cost to change would be?

    b) BMW 320D 2008
I am suprised there are not more of these on sale. I could be wrong but the quoted prices in Dublin seem out of line.
    The example below is 32,995
    http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/3-Series/320d--Ed/200935195040337/advert?channel=CARS

Any thoughts on what the price should be and then the cost of change.

I was thinking that a 318D might be more within budget.

I would go for the 2007 320D but I am afraid the tax changes would screw any resale value.

    Or should I go for a Golf :) ?

I wouldnt pay anything near that price for the bmw. They (320d) are widely available in uk for 14 to 15k sterling.... say 18,000 euro. + 4 to 5k to get vrt. So with pricing getting closer to uk here all the time, you should be looking to get the car for that kind of price.
I dont know what the cost to change would be.

Thanks Mick. I thought the price of the 320D was out of line in Dublin.
I am suprised there aren't more in the Irish market in the 27k - 28k range. If I didn't have the trade in - I would defintely consider the UK route.
