I'm male, fair hair, sensitive to dry scalp and am looking for gentle shampoo/conditioner. I hear that using a standard separate shampoo and conditioner can be harsh on very short hair and maybe cause premature baldness in men. Any suggestions on best gentle product to wash me hair that wont cause balding  I hear Emulave shampoo is good, maybe I dont need a condish

Yeah apparently there may be a link between hair loss and the use of hair products that contain Sulphates (usually sodium laureth sulphates, also known as SLS).
Sulphates are detergents that bind to the grease in your hair and remove it but they can be very harsh, they can really strip out dyes too. Manufacturers use them because they are cheap and produce a lot of suds (which consumers want).
Best bet is to go for a specialised natural or vegan line. I use Organix, its available in Boots and it's very good. Make sure the label says Sulphate free and not just SLS free- some companies advertise their shampoos as "SLS free" when they contain Ammonium Laurel Sulphate instead!

Faith in Nature have some lovely shampoos, available at most health/organic shops. Also, if you can get it, Dr. Organic has a good range too.

Simple do gentle shampoo and conditioners too. Have only seen them in larger supermarkets and large Chemists/larger Boots stores. Might be worth looking at, as they're not expensive when compared to some of the "organic", or "natural" shampoos.

Johnsons Baby Shampoo, maybe? I don't think there's a conditioner though.

There used to be a Johnson's baby conditioner, it was in a pink bottle.

Boots do a range called "Naked" which is quite a nice sulphate free range of shampoos/conditioners. Worth having a look as sometimes they have 2-for-1 offers on it.

The organic cosmetics brand Aveda do one called ''Shampure''. I never need conditioner when I use it and its extremely mild and gentle. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Available in large department stores cosmetics departments, including House of Fraser in Dundrum.

Lidl's own brand shampoo; because you're worthless.

As a matter of interest are there any shampoo type products that can prevent hair loss or encourage growth etc.

I don't personally need such products, but I've recently seen some people suggest that this product encourages hair growth, or more accurately encourages hair to grow thicker and prevents it falling out as early as it might naturally, thus making it grow longer, leaving hair looking fuller.

I think though that the secret to the product is the massaging it into the scalp. The massage will encourage blood flow to the follicles etc. which will naturally enhance the appearance of your hair.
