I am registered to run Rotterdam but have missed a lot of training recently as a result of a lingering head cold and the big freeze. I am looking for a marathon a few weeks later on and like the look of Dusseldorf. I would appreciate any info.

    Whatcha wanna know?

Course - totally flat. The only raise in elevation is when you go over the bridge twice and it'd be embarrassing to call them climbs

Weather - I got lucky last year and it was overcast with a tiny breeze but like anywhere in Europe in Spring you could easily get a hot day.

Crowd Support - It was busy in a few areas but kind of quiet for the most part. Probably a bit like Dublin where you get areas with large support and then large stretches with no one.

Water - In cups about every 2.5km or something ridiculous like that. More than enough

One annoying thing is that you had to pay a deposit for the chip at the expo which caught me off guard. You get it back afterwards if you remember to go to give it back - they don't actively look for them back like other marathons. If you forget (like I may have done!) you can't send it back or anything - you just lose whatever the deposit was.

Thanks Stupid_Private. I was looking at switching from Rotterdam to Dusseldorf but I have just discovered that Dusseldorf is on the May bank holiday weekend and given that Cork and Dublin also wipe out bank holidays I think my wife would leave me if I disappeared for another one! Back to the drawing boards.
