Super14 on Irish TV

After spending a bit of time in South Africa over the summer, It was obvious to me that I know nothing about rugby :) I'd love to get to know the southern hemisphere players and get a better global knowledge of the game (players, upcoming talent, clubs, tactical styles etc).

A lad in SA recommended that I watch as many Super 14 games as possible in order to 'learn' more about the southern hemisphere game. Are these games usually on TV in Ireland? Paying for Sky Sports isnt really ideal so I'm hoping there might be a few highlight programmes on the other UPC channels?

After being in Newlands for a Western Province game, and seeing the fanaticism of the support for WP and Stormers, I'd love to watch some of the games.

    Thanks for your help!

Sorry to say but Sky is only way to watch Super 14 on TV here. Wish it were otherwise but it's not I'm afraid.

Unless Setanta or ESPN show the IRB rugby show (cant recall the name, its on Sky) which shows clips of games, its Sky or nothing I'm sorry to say. Rugbydump.com puts up lots of highlights though if you wanna go web based! They're quite good actually.

Eurosport has shown a few games this winter. AFAIK ESPN also did at some stage. Nothing on terrestial, I'm afraid. And looking at Eurosport's schedule, from next wk/e they have live Winter Olympics for two weeks.

You tend to be able to find online streams though if you can't watch them on Sky.

Thats French Top14 you're thinking of.

Sky Sports 3 and 4 are your only choice for Live Super 14 games.
