Sorry in advance, if this is not the right location for posting this.
I've been trying to find out for definite is the IFE on Delta flights from DUB to ATL seat back tv's or dropdown TV's.
I emailed Delta directly, and despite a lengthy response, in the last line it seems to indicate they are drop down TV's.
Yet, this differs from other blogs which indicate seat back tv's.
I am travelling with 2 kids, hence I am trying to figure out how much entertainment I need to bring on board with them.
Had a bad experience with EI on DUB-MCO 2 years ago with IFE, hence I try to prepare in advance!
I fully understand it could change for a tech reason, but I am wondering what the normal IFE is. It's due to be a 767.
    Thanks in advance!:)

Seems like their fleet of 767s is still a mixed bag of overhead and seat back ife according to SeatGuru: http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Delta_Airlines/information.php

Yes, they seem to alternate between the 763W and 763Q though tomorrow's flight is down as a 752Q. Keep an eye on that link coming up to the date to see if you can predict which one they'll be likely to use.

The 763Q does have touchscreen displays on each seat, but the 763W and 752Q only have the overhead monitors in Economy. On the 752Q you even pay $2 for the headphones!

Flown this route with Delta a few times and never ever had PTVs, always over head screens, or old white board flipped over and screen projected onto it .Plane was at least 20 years old if not more.

Would be interested to know if anyone has any updates on this or could tell me what we would be likely to expect for IFE. Flying out 23rd Oct at 10.20 *think thats the flight time haven't the print out to hand - and have two very young children so would like to be prepared to bring along a portable dvd/headphones for them to be amused with their own programmes.
On the print out it says aircraft type is Boeing 767-200/300 but nothing else to help identify.

    Anyone know?

Most likely, it will be a 76G, one of Delta's with no PTV/AVOD. They have 7 or 8 767-300ERs with AVOD, and are usually used on their long long flights (JFK-AMM, etc.). They HAVE been subbed in before, I was on DL 176 a month ago and it was one with AVOD. It was subbed in as OUR plane was supposed to go for maintainence, hard landing I think...ANYWAY. Most likely DL 176/177 will NOT have PTVs, unfortunately. I think I was told by the flight attendant on the flight (he does ATL-DUB a lot, he's Irish like) that about 80% of the flights are 76Gs (763/W). Hopefully, hopefully it'd be a 76T for you though :) I'd bring your own IFE though. There would be overhead TVs at least. The headphones will be free.

And also, the 757 wouldn't really have the legs to do 177 fully loaded. No cargo, maybe. It does the OTHER 177 flight, from ATL-MCO.

Thanks for the reply Michael, I feared as much! Looks like I will have to go out and buy a portable dvd player for the rugrats so.
I noticed from another website (flightaware) that they have been using the 763/Q and 763/W so I assume these are pretty much the same aircraft. I'll hope for a miracle but I doubt we will get one  Knew I shoulda booked Continental

I'm flying out two days after you. It was only after we booked that we realized that the planes are so old. No lie flat beds or the like. They must be one of the oldest fleets to operate out if Dublin.

Anxious, I'm raging I didn't research it more in advance of booking. Several friends recommended Delta to me so thats why I went with them. Discovering now that even Aer Lingus has Personal IFE onboard in economy class AND it was cheaper than Delta.. we are travelling with two young children, one who is disabled and we are taking her to the US (Missouri) for an operation on her spine to help her walk .. and I'm now even more peed off because I'm worrying about her comfort to and from the states on the plane.

Same as us, the travel agent booked it for us. We are headed to Vegas first class and it's costing more than airlines with proper first class ie virgin ba.

I really hope everthing works out for you, if I was youid write a letter into the head office and see if they could bump you up. Or if somehere works for them they could possibly do something. Keep us updated please.
