Years ago I seem to remember coming across a test pattern on a SKY channel. It was very useful if you didnt have a pattern generator for picture line up.It consisted of a grid pattern in black and white, I guess for convergence line up.
The only other line up as such I have come across was on the DVD of "Pearl Harbour".It had TV monitor ,and even 5.1 souround sound on it.

monsters inc, starwars, are two dvd's (off the top of my head)

I know have the THX optimizer .

BBCHD also broadcast a hd test signal between the previews (when not showing programs)
it also has a 5.1 test pattern.

Thanks for the info,I have looked at the BBC HD test pages, very short transmissions, and when you do come across them they will not record on the HD box.
I was hoping for the old still test pattern to be buried on a Sky page somewhere, but maybe its gone. Thanks again.
    Whatever happened to THX?.

From time to time Sky Arts HD broadcast a HD test card programme after regular programmes. Check the EPG around 1:00 or 2:00am. This can be recorded - it also appears on Anytime every now and again.

Thanks for that,I did manage to record to DVD,the BBC test card on SD,wonder why they don't want us to be able to record same?
On a related thread ,this weeks "Larkrise" on BBC HD ,vastly superior picture quality compared to last weeks, are they messing with their M/Bits/sec.?
