Talk to your coach or a fitness instructor

Developing the wrong areas can lead to serious injury on the pitch

what is a good workout routine for a rugby player?

Guessing by your username you are just looking to take up rugby?

Being a big muscle head isn't what "makes" a rugby player, but if you want to increase your strength base i'd recommend something like starting strength, i'm doing it at the moment and i'm finding it quite beneficial. The fitness forum on boards is an excellent resource. And with most strength gains its not all about lifting weights, diet is absolutely paramount.

    info on starting strength
If you haven't lifted weights before you should definitely get someone to show you proper form and technique, otherwise you could cause yourself a serious injury.

Hope this helps, and apologies if it isn't what you are looking for.

Try the fitness forum. or better still talk to a coach and get some supervision.
