    Hey,
Im just wondering was anyone else completely pissed of with the crowd control last night, the security was absoutly ****, i spoke to the anouncer and he said it was nothing to do with him and the when i spoke to the promoter he said they were trying but they werent trying very hard?

Another question did anybody else notice a young mma fighter called barry, not give his second name, but everyone was complaining about him, at one stage i seen him push a girl but fair play to her she put him in his place, but he made a complete dick of himself? And lastly some of the fights were brillant last night, but does any1 else think that some of the fights were slightly over-matched?

Everyone is intitled to their opinion. This is after all a chat forum. It seems to me that every time someone says somthing that anoys another member, they get on their hi horse, but yet the member who may get offended, will offend someone else in another post. If anyone is going to give critisisum they should also be able to take it.

Im sure this guy didnt like the show but im sure there was alot of others who did.

It was a full house and pretty jammers, but aside from some guys behind me slagging off my jacket (very nice light corduroy by the way) I thought the crowd were very well behaved, even when they were at their most vocal. Didn't like the booing (I never do) but it was all quite good natured.

Firstly, I am not "young" and only some people would call me a "fighter". I also never pushed her I was trying to grope her, there's a difference. Yes she put me in my place afterwards but I'm told they'll drop down of their own accord in a few days.

As for matchmaking, it's a difficult/art/skill/game of chance. There was one clear mismatch, but other than that (and I had the best seat in the house) I thought a lot of the fights were a clear shot away from swinging in the other direction, which is often the way at semi-pro. Early finishes don't necessarily mean "mismatch". You just can't tell when a guy has had only 1 or 2 matches how he's going to get on against a guy of similar experience.

Starting with the positive I thought the layout was very good, the cage was well positioned in the room and the seating arrangement was quite good. There were some very good match-ups on the card which provided entertaining fights. The Alan Philpott fight was back and forth at a high pace with some good exchanges which philpott generally got the better of. Loved the Bill Hunter fight; everyone loves to see two big guys slug it out and one is gonna get sparked! Paul Moore Vs Hugh Minnock was a good scrap, not the most technical of fights but very entertaining. It was a pity it got stopped due to the cut.

Regarding crowd control, I think MMA crowds are generally quite respectful but there are always factions who think they can do what they want! Throughout most of the night the crowd at large was generally well behaved and no crowd control was needed. However during the McTrusty Vs Crowe fight a large section of the crowd behaved terribly and were standing on seats etc. Crowd control/security were totally absent and this section of the crowd did as they pleased. This meant that other paying customers couldn't see what was happening inside the cage. This is something that should be addressed by the promoters for future shows. It was dissappointing but I don't think people should allow that to ruin what was an otherwise good night.

In terms of mismatches I think the Joe Clarke fight was a total mismatch. He is a very entertaining fighter and this fight served no real purpose to anyone. It wasn't entertaining as it was a walkover and Joe didn't get a chance to test his skills or his resolve in the cage. Other than that I thought most fights were well enough matched, which is a tough job.

Regarding the barry issue, that is one guy and no fault of the promoters but again security/crowd control could have put him in his place much earlier by simply telling him to stay seated and stop running to the cage screaming!!

Fightie I am surprised by your reply, infact it is rather childish. Why not respond with your point of view. At the end of the day as blackbelt said this is a discussion forum where everyone can post their opinion on everything MMA related. I enjoyed the evening but I do believe that times when the crowd flares up it needs to be dampened immediately to ensure a good night for all. This is constructive criticism of an otherwise good evening.

I'd say there were over 1,000 people last night and the overall atmosphere was excellent with the exception of one fight.
The boo boys in the crowd never do their own fighter any favours, but then is there a problem if a fighter brings a big support with them?

I was at the back, beside the door and was chatting with allot of the fighters and I didn't see anyone being pushed, the only thing I saw was security having to throw out a couple of guys who were completely drunk (One of which fell down the stairs lol)

Overall I really enjoyed Cage Contender, I was disappointed that the ‘Cage Contender format’ was not used for the main event, but I realise how difficult it would be for the organisers to get so many replacements of sufficient standard not to make the tournament a farce.

I shall address all these issues tomorrow/Monday.

We appreciate if people can air their concerns here and we will do our best to make sure we have solutions for the next event.

I really enjoyed the show, thought there was some great fights and the crowd atmosphere was excellent. I didn't see any crowd control issues although did hate when they booed a fighter, cause the ones booing are the ones that would never have the balls to get into the cage themselves.

Think the set up of the show was great, and think the judging and referring was spot on.

Firstly il have to say that i didnt enjoy the show as much as i thought i would, i heard it was gona be a great show and so ta travel all the way up ta carrickfergus and not see this, kinda got under our skin. The reason for this was that i honest ta god couldnt hear a word the MC was saying the pa on the back end of the room was terrible, so there was no real build up to entry of fights, we would be like o another fight has started, who is it?. Also If there had of been big screens in the event ( prob would not be possible to put them anywhere in that room) would have stopped the standing up in the event, everyone at the back end of the room were sound enough and stayed seated but the odd person stood up because ya couldnt see any of the submissions or grappling on the ground. I was tempted meself! Anyway thats my rant over hope its somewhat constructive not tryin ta come on here ta p anyone off just giving my two cent!! :)
