    hey guys,

just saw something fly overhead. reckon it was a satellite. i've seen satellites before, and MIR etc.

Just wondering what this was. Reckon it was just a plain old satellite but just thought i'd confirm, and see if anyone could pinpoint exactly what satellite it was.

Like I said, it was heading in a northerly direction at 21:43 here in melbourne, which is GMT+11.

    Cheers.

Dont think it was the ISS as no pass was scheduled for Melbourne at that time.
Take a look here for times in Melbourne

I reckon it was just a satellite coz i saw the same 2 at roughly the same time again last night.
Also, i saw another going SE. Must just be TV satellites i reckon. I saw a very similar one in Thailand last year too.

You can use the http://www.heavens-above.com webpage to see the expected visible satellites from your location once you register (for free) and set up your location.

It's most likely that the satellites you've been seeing are earth-sensing satellites e.g. one of the US Lacrosse radar spy satellites. Comms satellites are mostly in geosynchronous orbit, and earth sensing ones are usually in a polar orbit to be able to be overhead everywhere.
