Saw this the other day. Based on the 95 world cup with matt damon. Have to say the rugby scenes in it are brutal! Real shame cause had the potentiall to be great

Out of curiosity, what does this mean in the context of the thread?

This forum is for rugby, lads. Not Clint Eastwood's bastardised, Hollywood interpretation of it. Take it to film! :)

I think the biggest problem with the rugby scenes is the camera work. Its always far too close to the "action" and you never have any real idea whats going on. The scrums looks terrible as well. It's a decent film apart from that though and will hopefully bring rugby to a wider audience.

Terrible worthy, sentimental tripe. Rugby scenes virtually unwatchable for anyone with even a passing understanding of the game. Avoid like the plague...read the book though, far superior.

The best rugby movie i've seen is ~This Sporting Life with Richard Harris from 1963, pity it's rugby league but the action scenes are outstanding. You can tell Harris played rugby as a young man back in Limerick. Off the field Harris' portrayal of Frank Michin, a hard as nails coal mining semi-professional rugby player is outstanding, almost Brandoesque.
