Can i get SKY HD Multiroom Without a phone line.

I've SKY HD in the sitting room and i have the cables run into the bed room i bought a SKY HD box from ebay, can i ring SKY and ask them for a multiroom card or do i really need a phone line to pair the card?

I have a NTL phone but thats VOIP so dont think the box will dial out over it

Short answer is no. Sadly you will need an active phone line to avail of multiroom. The reason for this, is that both boxes will do a callback every so often to make sure that they are at the same address.

On regards to the NTL phone line, I am unsure of that and more then likely someone will answer that for you.

So do the boxes call sky or Sky call the boxes?

Seems a bit mad so how does that work, back in the parents house the phone would ring all the time and the sky box would never answer? does it send a secet signel saying im going to call you pick up the phone and then maybe the phone would ring for a split second and the box will answer?

Im wondering if i give them my phone number and just play dumb about the voip part and unless the explain it must be capaple of reciving a modem call then surly they cant have my head if it doesnt work

It is the box itself that "calls home". The home phone will not ring at all.

You can give them the phone number and not mention it to them, They cannot have your head for it, its just a matter for the engineer who arrives to see can it be solved..he might even do it manually by calling Sky and activating it himself.

Goina give it a bash, I bought the box on ebay and have the cables all in so dont need the engineer so i will just give them my land line VOIP number and play dumb

Sure ya might as well. They will send out the card as your giving them a landline number. Its when you go to make the callback on the box to activate the card.
