Speak to your old clubs handicap sec and ask for a handicap certificate. On reciept of it pass this to your new clubs handicap sec who will then register your handicap as active at your new club

I'm not sure (though I should be) but I'd imagine that a simple letter to the Handicap Secretary (in each club?) outlining that you want to transfer your handicap would be best.

If I remember correctly, I think you need agreement of your existing home club to release your handicap to the "new" club.
Usually a formality really and other than that its simple.

You simply get the Handicap Sec. of the club you're leaving to send a handicap cert. to the Handicap Sec. in your new club. He'll probably send a print out of your playing record, handicap adjustments etc. also. You'll need this if you're going to play some National Competitions for your new club.

Russman, I think the OP would only need the agreement of his original club if he was remaining a member of that club also, but it's up to the player to decide which club would be his main one for handicap purposes. It's usually where he plays the majority of his golf. And, his G.U.I. swipe card will have his handicap on it as well.

In the old days, secretarys or handicap secretarys wrote to each other in regard to transfer of handicaps as there was no other way to verify that the stated handicap was correct..

Today however whilst it would be manners to inform your present club that you will not be rejoining, I would think that most clubs would be happy to accept a copy of handicap record which you can download yourself from the golfnet server.

Hoping, if I'm accepted, to change clubs also. I have informed my old club that I will not be renewing and have been advised by new club handicap sec to pass her details onto old club who will transfer over my handicap in writing. Only after I'm accepted though typical me to apply to a club not actively seeking members!!
