That time of year again and since I didnt see a thread on it already - here goes. Who will win this years 6 Nations. Even before the tournament starts the tie in Paris between France and ourselves is looking ominous. Whoever wins this must be the favourite. That is why I think France deserve to be favourites simply because of home advantage against Ireland and England.

I think Ireland have it all to do given that we are playing France and England away, but I think we can do it. I even have fate for an outside hope of a grand slam, I can just see them be very fired up for this tournament.

well i was not thrilled by the game produced against Australia & a pale South Africa who gave Ireland all the ball they needed and finished the match without going over the line.

Not so sure they will have so much ball in Paris and London and especially as many gaps in the french defense as last year in Dublin.

If they decide to use the ball from 12 to 15 they have a chance but I didn't see more than 5 passes in a long time without going to the ground.
Remember last year's score at half time against England or Scotland ... they will have to play better this year i think.

Playing Italy first is not necessary the best cos' it is better to play them when you know how many points you need to put them behind when the tournament is about score average.

And it might end up counting the pennies at the end.

Any team between Ireland-France-England is well able to grab it.

Have to think France. They were killed by New Zealand but I feel that this is their year.

I really want Ireland to win but one key injury and we are in trouble

Ireland, but no slam. We'll go down to France in Paris.

    You have to have hope....

I think it'll be Ireland for the 6N but with no Grand Slam this year.

If ireland play as they did in last years six nations, France will win the championship, we will have a very tough game against england and also against wales, who nobody is paying any attention to at all. Ireland must evolve from last years style of play, as the other teams will have figured us out at this stage. I would love to see a more expansive ball carrying game, more off loading in the tackle, full backs running with the ball rather than just hoofing it back to the opposition ad nauseum. The backs have to employ attacking lines with variety and with pace which is exactly what the french, english and welsh will do to us. There is a time and place in the game for the up the jersey stuff using the forwards to get over the gain line, in my opinion this served us well last year but only just, we have to widen our game to win this championship, if we do that, never mind the championship, we will win the grand slam.:D

I'm going to stick my neck out and go for England. They obviously have a much better chance of beating France than us. If they beat Wales I think they'll win their remaining games bar a slipup in Murrayfield. That said I hope I'm wrong.

Ireland for the 6 Nations. Think we have the measure of every side bar France and if we can cope in the scrum against the French we might just pull off the Grand Slam. Personally i'd be delighted with 4 wins.

I think Ireland will lose in Paris but you have to kind of expect at least one wtf performance from France to even the playing field. Ultimately, Ireland are less likely/less able to turn on the style like France and I can see them getting the better points difference.

Have to agree, France are just a pure psycho team but will down us in Paris in front of their own fans.

For me, it's all about winning the Championship.

However, if we don't get the slam, I fear for us winning the 6N - look at our recent record of losing time after time to France on points.

That's the madest prediction I've seen! But maybe, just maybe...
I don't see England coming second last - not a hope. They're this tournament's dark horse. They might just nick it. I see us (hopefully) doing it all again and winning the GS but England coming second

Whats the relevance of the first part?
Secondly the game against england was a joke the score line flattered them. We won by a point instead of 15 or 20 because of johnsons rant about refs making england a scap goat and thus they got away with murder.

I still dont think england have what it takes and wales will beat them today and i can see us and france beating them hell even scotalnd might do us a favor

I disagree with you about the 'one key injury'. Ireland have huge depth in the squad, with nearly all players having a solid replacement. Look at McLaughlin, Sexton, Earls, Trimble, Paddy Wallace, and Rory Best. Keith Earls can fill in centre, wing AND full-back. Ireland have no problem with depth. If anything costs us a grand slam, it'll be a lack of creativity in the backline.

What was the game against England last year a part from a big bore ? First half against Scotland ? First half against France, (if you look at the vid you will see that ireland are happy to turn half time in front) ?

Ireland win these matches on Fitness. But until the 50th-60th minute i am not overly confident.

If the players were playing more in Magners i am not so sure they would be able to turn games the way they do.

Wouldn't necessarily agree with that. This could be a very close 6N, depending on how England/Wales/Scotland play this weekend. I've got a suspicion that England/Scotland might be the surprise packages this year. I'd stick a sneaky 50p on Scotland to beat France tomorrow (if I were a betting man)...and France are of course the great enigma this season...will Lievremont continue to shoot France in the foot with daft selections, or will he settle on a team for the comp? If france get it together this season we may be in big trouble...so its all on the table I reckon...alas the only team I'm full sure will get/do nothing are the unfortunate Italians.
