    Advice needed...

    Current set up: -

Living room I have an old 20 hour SKY+ box.

Sitting room I have a standard SKY box with a magic eye going to the bedroom.

Dilemma = If I upgrade to SKY HD can I keep the SKY+ box in the living room & get the HD box to replace the standard box in the sitting room??

Will this affect my magic eye??

Will I the have HD in the bedroom also???

If I get the right answers to these ???s I'm getting a HD subscription today!

    Thanks in advance.

To put the HD box in the sitting room you'll need 2 coax runs to that location from the dish. Do you? To have HD in the bedroom run from that box you'd need a Hdmi cable going from the sitting room box to the bedroom. Do you? To watch in HD in the bedroom you need a HD ready Tv up there. Do you?

No... buy I'm hoping the installer will run an extra cable?

No. That solves that... but I suppose I'll still have the standard picture?

    No.

basically you wont be able to watch HD channels anywhere so no point paying for HD subscription

you could only watch standard picture in both sitting room and bedroom

if you have a HD ready TV in the living room, the obvious answer is to put the HD box there and move your sky+ box to the sitting room

Assuming your installer can run another coax from the dish to the sitting room without ugly runs on the front of your house or inside or assuming you don't mind running the new cable along skirting or pulling off skirting to run it behind or you simply don't mind it possibly being ugly inside or out, well then you could indeed have the HD box in the sitting room and leave the Sky+ box in the living room. You're out of luck for HD in the bedroom without a HDtv up there or a HDMI cable run to it but as you said, you can still watch SD up there from the scart output of the HD box.

You can keep your Sky + in the first room and get ur std box upgraded to Sky HD ...the magic eye will still work in the bedroom no problem, however you wont have the full HD effect but it will look a little sharper than the std box did. You will however need another Hd remote or a sky plus remote in order to change channels in the bedroom.

A sky+ remote will change a skyhd box and are cheaper to buy...than a hd remote.
