Ok I normally work standard 39 hours a week with my company. We are, from next week on going on short time (3 day week) format. I have a registered company that is currently paying off loans with all its turnover and therefore not making a profit. I am VAT registered too. But again my ownly source of income is my standard 39hrs per week.

What's your thoughts on whether or not I will be allowed to claim for the 2days off (JSA)

    Thanks in advance

You are unlikely to receive anything due to self employment. As as as I know the self employed do not get "dole".While you are paying off debts the state will probably just look at the income you receive, they dont give a hoot what you do with it. A visit to your local office is the way to go just in case!

    Hi there,
It's a big misconception that self employed people cannot receive the dole.
Self employed people are entitled to jobseekers allowance which is means tested but as you were a PAYE worker you may be entitled to your 'stamps '. Your other business will probably be taken into account but if you are not making an income from it you should be alright.

Just go in to your local office and ask and also there is alot of information on www.citizeninformation.ie . I don't have the link right now but will put it up when I find it..
