The front left brake caliper has ceased and needs to be replaced. Nissian have quoted 400-600 euro to replace it! (pads and disc as well) I think thats very dear, was hopping someone on here might know where I could get a cheaper replacement?

To the scrapyard my good man! You'll pick up a good secondhand pair for about €50. Not a big job either to do.

Yes try the scrapyards, but this is a very common problem on almeras and on 99-02 primeras, so calipers are very hard to get. One of the first parts to be sold off a scrapped Almera (after the gearbox). Also be aware that there are two if not three different caliper types and these are not interchangable. I think it's the Lucas one that gives the most trouble but I could be wrong.

Last time I got one it cost me 50 or 60 euro secondhand, and took a good few calls to find one. I doubt you'd get a pair for 50 quid.

Try the motor factors. I got a new caliper for a 98 Accord for 100 euro in December from local factors (exchange unit).

As Muckie says, dead easy to fit (15-20 mins) if you're handy.
