    Hi,

Does anyone here know where in Ireland I can get an Optima 35R battery? It's for a 2004 Mazda RX-8.

    Cheers,

    Dave

I'm (kinda) 95% certain that McHugh & Kramp used to do them, but they changed to the Exide Maxxima for at least a while some years ago; we found the Exides to have a very poor lifespan, so we switched to Hawker Odyessy batteries and find them to be superb, at least as good as the equivalent Optima.

OK I'll look into that also. Thanks Rovi.

Qualcom are the agents for Optima, 01 419 1600.

DOnt know if them will sell direct to you, be prepared for the shock of the price.

FWIW I have fould Yuasa to be the best make of battery I've had (tho I've never had an Optima) and buy nothing else. Yuasa are a very large Japanese maker and supply many manufacturers.

According to the manufacturer's site, their Irish agents are Tim Molloy Limited Dublin 00 3531 4542377 and JTM Jumpstarters Ltd Wicklow 00 353 40466998.
Also Batyre Ltd Belfast 0044(0)02890 351582

We get ours from Devon 4x4 in the U.K.

Be prepared for a severe case of sticker-shock.

Optima batteries aren't that great anymore, they fail after 12 months. If you check out a few US 4x4 sites you'll find the brand have gone downhill the last few years and Odyssey is the way to go

O'Connell Brothers Cork (021 4323344) sell odyssey, a great battery.
I picked up a Odyssey PC1500 from them a few weeks ago, €275!!
