Not sure what's good or bad either but if you go in to the Yellow Brick Road they have loads of books there on the subject.
They have a website with the location on it.

    I'm presuming you're in Dublin

Afraid not. I'm in Cork. I just order Jewellery and Beading for Dummies online and borrowed a book in the library so hopefully I'm covered.

Let us know how you get on and what you think of the books - I haven't looked at my beading kit in ages and I think part of the reason is not having a book of some sort to give me some ideas or bring my pieces forward somewhat. Used to love working with the wire and making bits but it'd be nice to learn some actual finishes/skills!

    Hi

I don't know what type of beading you are interested in, I've been beading for about 4 years now, I have a number of books, but the one I tend to "refer" most to is "the encyclopedia of beading techniques" by Sara Withers here's a link on amazon to it http://www.amazon.co.uk/Encyclopedia-Beading-Techniques-Sara-Withers/dp/184448047X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265511017&sr=8-1

I work between seed beading and stringing and more recently polymer clay, this book has loads of info on what you need to get started, although there isn't too many "projects" in it.

Being in Ireland, buying the mag's can be expensive, one way I get around this is to subscribe online to Bead magazine, it only cost's about £10 for the year and you can look back at all the previous magazines and print out the projects.

A couple of other links that might interest you are some forums in the UK where you will find others who are generally more than happy to lend you some advice.

    www.uk-beaders.co.uk
    www.craftsforum.co.uk

I have found these invaluable in my journey into beading.

Hope those help and if I can be of any more help to you please don't hesitate to pm me!

    Thanks Berny.

The book I got out of the library is Chic &Unique Beaded Jewellery by Naomi Abbeykoon which has some nice projects but is a bit advanced for me yet.
