    Hello All

Just a question to you all who have done the china Internship from tefl i-to-i
    .

Im currently interested in doing it, and was wondering if it was a good choice. Its 1165 euros appx. since this is a major cash hog, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice and the details that arent on the website.

Is it anygood. IS it worth it? Its a 4.5 month course

I would like to get out of the country as quick as possible. Im Currently aiming for Tokyo Japan. Hopefully....its a 2-3 year plan heh!

    Thanks all

    Dara

just to add to that. i payed 500 euros for the i to i course and when i enquired about the internship they said it would cost me 900 euros. i laughed as i find it quite ridiculous the fact that you are paying these somes of money to work? wheres the sense in that?
if you went to china with that kind of money you could have a great time...

there not really doing you any favours

look up susan griffiths on the web. she publishes books on working and traveling and one is called teaching english abroad. it has numerous contact info for schools in all countries.

international house is another you could try and they have a good rep

this is a good site for info also

If anyone is going to post potentially libellous claims about i-to-i, could you please back them up with corroborating evidence rather than just adding 'imo'. Opinions are all well and good, but they don't carry much weight in court. :) I have deleted one post because of this.

None of these posts actually helped at all. I heard good things about i-to-i
The course includes 120 hours plus 4.5 months, and you get paid too, i think its 1125 euros, you pay 1165 for the course thats only 40 euro difference, you get it back monthly as payment, and aparently

    Your accomodation is payed for
    your food is payed for
your travel inside the country is payed for
    you get holidays
    teaching experience

i think its a great deal personally but im not sure, only a person who actually did this will really know.

i think if you want to teach in china go to china and look for a teaching job instead of forking out huge amounts of cash to an organisation that does nothing for you.
travel and accomodation is cheap anyway in asia so they make it look like part of the 'package' and you think your getting a great deal.

heres some links to blacklisted tefl schools. im not sure if its 'libelous'

im sure there are plenty of more websites you can find

To be fair to the posters who have taken the time to respond to you, you asked for opinions. If you only wanted good opinions, then perhaps you should not have started the thread. If you wish, I can close the thread for you. Otherwise, please remember that you are always going to get different opinions to your own on a discussion forum like boards.ie.

I can't believe you think working for 4.5 months you deserve 40 Euro. So many people do a course and off they go teaching. Once your training is done you'll be teaching like anyone else, they won't know you're an intern, no one will hold your hand here. You'll be thrown in either way so why pay for it?

If anyone has any trouble finding a hundred webpages with arguments against i-to-i then I would say that person cannot use Google. That's all I'm saying.
