Hi, my car insurance cover me and two named drivers. My instructor wants to take me out in my own car- will his own insurance cover him driving mine?

Depends on his insurance carrier. Here our insurance policy DOES NOT cover us to drive pupils cars and were with AIG. I have my own insurance policy on my personal car that covers me to drive other peoples cars with insurance on them but it states in my policy that i am not covered to operate other cars for hire or reward. I would guess no.

Presumably if your instructor is comfortable enough taking you out in your own car, i would say he has no intention of spending any time in the drivers seat.

As a driving instructor, from time to time, it is required to demenstrate manovers. How to do something like "Reverse around a corner" is easier to show with regards to speed and observation and distance from the kerb rather than explaining on the fly. Once again it will be done in our cars. From time to time we also get pupils to arrive 10-15 minutes early for a driving lesson and take them out in the school car and drive around the test route to show progress and position on the road and then have the pupil recreate the drive in there own car. We do not charge the the extra few minutes.
