Is anyone else tired of these poxy songs? I was never a fan but the more of them a hear the less and less i care for the artists who partake, not least for ruining already good songs (remember the cover of Perfect Day?) So does anyone buy them? Do you think much of the money even gets there? And if you do buy them, do you like the song?

    Youtube link fail.

Delete the gobbledigook up to the first = sign so you're left with letters & numbers.

Oh dear God. I just heard the first few seconds. I didn't think I could dislike that song any more than I already did. Now I Haiti it.

Worse than the earth quake ffs.

But to answer the question, do I buy the recording.

I bought the original 'Do they know its Christmas', and I bought 'Crazy World' (Aslan) for the victims of Beslan but that was actually Aslan and not a reworked recording of it.

If Ronan Keating sang on this present song (and I can't listen to it incase he does) I'll wish for an earthquake in Malahide.

Warbling. That indeed is the correct term. It sounds exactly how I expected it to sound.

Pretty horrible attitude to have tbh. Dislike the song, not the cause. It's a very worthy cause

Hope you never have to rely on anyone if your life is turned upside down.

Perhaps worse still is REM or their label giving permission for a great song to be ruined.

Why is there a krogan singing in the youtube preview

Dreadful song, but if it raises money for the cause then I'm willing to live with it.

We should be more critical of society as a whole to be honest, if everyone could just donate to charity without demanding that celebrities dance around like puppets first then we wouldn't have songs like this.

1 thing i wonder about on this... sure the money will be for funding the work in Haiti... but once that's taken care of, with the bill settled...

...Where does the extra money go that's going to come from this?

Governments world wide have pledged Aid and Money for projects to help rebuild Haiti already... there is no public outcry about them not doing enough...

I don't really see the point on this being done at all in the first place now that i think about it...

    - Drav!

They're pledging medical supplies and things such as that that can deal with the immediate consequences. There's still going to be the long task of rebuilding which is going to cost large amounts of money

Its becasue 'singers' and 'celebs' have to be seen to do something, and God forbid instead of handing over some of their vast wealth(perish the thought), its much easier to slap a 'song' together and expect the people who might be struggling as it is to pay instead,
Insert pictures/footage of these 'celebs' looking mournfully at the poor/tragedy stricken and its proof that they feel bad and need our support to help 'their' fellow man and such in (insert poor/disaster stricken area here)
I would never buy any of these singles purely on the basis of gaul of these people to expect us to pay our money when they would do alot more if they donated instead of commiting crimes against the hearing enabled with this trash,
If your unfortunate enough to have bought the cd single, put it in the microwave, its much better and more entertaining than listening to the 'song'.
    /rant

  • What a godforsaken piece of ****e that is. My ears are bleeding a little bit.

This has also just been released as a benefit single, worth checking out, its a really beautiful cover of The Boss's song "City of Ruins" by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, recorded live.

    ha!
most have them have some sort of auto tuning running through their voices,
The song, imo, is empty, bereft of talent. Granted there may be lots of talented people involed in the song, thats not to say their talent is utilised in the song.

    Its trash.

lol, yes, of course they do. That's the music industry.

It's trash, really? What part? or..all of it?
    just don't see how tbh.

Ah cmon people the song isn't that bad. Some good singing there, nothing exceptional but it's definitley not "trash".

BTW I'm fairly certain there isn't any pitch correction going on, Autotune would be very noticeable especially in a slow song like this.

It's a way of raising money, so long as the money goes to Haiti, I don't care who made it.

It's ok, we all like to jump on the bandwagon from time to time.

My anger with this is that they havent put the effort into getting a proper group of musicians together and writing a song especially for this like the band aid song. Why is everything covers now?

I'm sad to see Rod Stewart in it. A man who made his name singing for Jeff Beck and then taking the lead in the Faces goes to this horsecrap. It's almost as bad as Iggy Pop flogging car insurance. So the general concesus is that its a crap song except for SV who is deaf.

    Yes, I fixed it.
Obviously enough I'm not deaf as I was able to form the opinion that I liked it.
Also, strangely enough, It's obvious enough that Boards is full of people who hate popular celebs and will hate anything they do.
It's probably because it's majority is Irish and the whole begrudgery thing.

I think the worst part is that they don't see the irony in the fact that a load of rich celebrities are telling third world earthquake victims, "You know, everybody hurts, sometimes".
