Okay, I'm not sure if this is right or not.

Basically I was out of work for 8 days, due to health issue.

Upon returning to work I was advised I may have to attend a HR meeting.

Some of the absence dates may be from before being out with this problem, but if it includes the dates that are in the doctors note I presented, should I have to go?

    Thanks in advance.

HR can call a meeting with you whenever they want, even if all they want to do is tell you the sky is blue.

I'd say they will call you in just to talk about your sick leave, previous and present, nothing more than that - the idea is to scare you into thinking twice about taking sick leave again.
