Hi saw an ad for a cycle from Dublin to Paris in the paper. I cycle occassionally and was wondering if anyone has any expereince of doing a cycle of this kind - its a 600km cycle in July - would i be able to build up my fitness levels in time?

I'm guessing that's the Hospice Foundation one, given your username. Yes, I'd say six months is plenty of time to get in shape for that, even if you've never done much cycling before. I'd get started as soon as possible though, with short rides, gradually building up your distances (no more than 10% a week is the standard rule of thumb) until you can comfortably do 80-100k in a day.

Edit: oh yeah, closer to the day, do a few back-to-back rides, to get used to the feeling of getting back on the bike after a hard ride the previous day.

    Hi Irish Hopice Foundation,
I've heard good things about your cycle, I wanted to do it last year but couldn't due to unemployment. Best of luck with it.

    Howdy,

I've heard about it too - overwhelming experiences all round! I'm thinking of doing it myself!:o

Hmmm...is there anything at all suspicious about the way this ride is being boosted by a series of first time posters?

mj25, TamiTaylor, Kildalkey and IHF are almost certainly the same person.

Locking the thread whilst we ponder....
