A (potentially) good deal (for someone else).

There's a bloke on ebay.co.uk selling an Orbea Orca frame (size 54) which though "shop soiled" appears to be brand new. He's looking for at least £UK800 but as yet has received no offers and the sale ends at 7.55am tomorrow (Friday) morning.

Taking the fact that the frame is in my size as evidence that the gods had spoken, I spent about an hour fantasy shopping on the web last night before concluding that, what with the recession and all, the bike was beyond my means. However, this isn't to say that it might not suit someone here.

CRC are currently doing deals on Ultegra groupsets - approx €500 for 6600 going up to €636 for 6700. Alternately, Ribble are offering reasonable value on Campagnolo sets. Throw in a set of Ksyrium Elites and you've got the basis for a really nice bike (other than stem, bars, pedals and saddle) for less than €2k.

Someone, not me, but someone should do this.

How can the seller say no reserve when he has a starting price of £800...

What he's saying is that there's no reserve price over £800 (i.e. £800 might do it). I agree that setting such a high opening bid is effectively setting a reserve price though.
