Hey guys i appoligise in advance for the long post but if your into upbeat music with a blues feel to it and want to get some gigs out of it please read on. Ive highlighted some key words throughout just to make it easier to skim read

    What im looking for:
I am looking for a bass player and drumer specifically as a base to start from and then expanding things out with more instruments when a solid foundation has been set.

So please respond if you have a good understanding of theory on any intrument and are interested in what im talking about as i will definitely get back to you.

    About me:
Im 22 years old and i am a guitarist and a singer. I live in the Stillorgan/Blackrock area. Own transport and equipment

    My music experience:
I have quite a reasonable amount of giging experience on my own in pubs singing with a guitar and i will post some stuff from a gig i was did rescently to give you a flavour of my singing style and the kind of music im into playing in the next day or two.
I would love to find some people my own age who are into this music but if your committed to the idea i don't care what age you are at all.

Music i want to start with:
The idea for me is to get some upbeat tracks that get people dancing in a club so that they can enjoy their night and we get repeat gigs.

Here is a taste of some of the tracks i want to play from "The Derek Trucks Band". I can't find any better links then these at the moment so some of the songs are not done justice here

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnXPJKztNEk&feature=related

Other stuff i want to play:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sxc8Sm0nXpE

There are lots more tracks but im drawing a blank at the moment on the other stuff i have to play. Also im open to playing in any genre of music as well not just looking to set up a blues or tribute band a good mix of all styles from indie rock jazz whatever, its all fun to play. I'd also like to play some original material and maybe record some original material too but the priority at the moment is to get giging

    Giging opportunities:

I can get us some gigs because i have a few freinds with good conections in alot music venues.
To start off we could play in a pub local to me in "Blackrock" called "The Avoca" where we will most likely get paid.
After that there is a new nightclub with a live music lounge that has opened in "Stillorgan" called "Tribe" looking for exactly the kind of music im trying to set up here.
If i can get some up tempo blues stuff to get people dancing i can get a regular paying gig in there no problem as i know alot of people who are involved in the club.
Venue's like "Whealans" and "The Village" are likely too as i have connections there also.

On a personal level I want to express myself musically with an emphasis on the singing side of things as people don't really want to hear a never ending guitar solo's but have a few choice moments where a solo is taken just to change things up.

    The essential idea:

To get some upbeat stuff to play so people can dance to and get some repeat paying gigs because of that, while having some fun with a group of like mided people. I'd love to play and write some orginal material with a view to recording some stuff at some point as well

Thanks for reading and if your not interested but know someone who might be let them know the thread.

    Nice one

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

Count me very interested. The good news: I live and work in Blackrock, have a great jazz drum kit and my own transport, and the Avoca is half way between my work and my home. I know Anne and Jim who own the Avoca.

The not quite so good news: I'm in my 40s (but very young at heart).

More on the upsdie: I am very committed to playing drums since I finally started playing a few years back. I like all kinds of music including jazz and blues, also indie, dance etc. etc. I like the Derek Trucks tracks - esp. I Know. I do Mustang Sally very well.

Let me know if you want to discuss further.

    Peter

Hey I'm a 26 year old drummer and looking to move up to Dublin pretty soon. I'd be well up for this as long as it would at least pay for itself. I'll get back in touch when I do get to move up and if you haven't found a drummer yet

    Hey Kevin,

I'm Paul,I'm 20 and go to college in Maynooth. I play guitar. I know your are not looking for anymore musicians just yet, but I would be very interested in playing rhythm guitar if needed. Im open minded towards many types of music but my main genre would be kind of upbeat bluesy rock and roll. I can feel the music and also understand the theory behind it. I will be dedicated to this because its hard to find like minded people with a propper interest in this type of music. Im also open to some original stuff too.
So hey, if you need a dedicated, hardworking second guitarist let me know!

    Alrighty then,

    Paul.

Also I totally agree with you on guitar solos!
