Is €579 a good price for a 32gig 3GS unlocked iphone?

There's a shop in the city centre selling it at this price - seems pretty good to me.

    Any opinions on that?

It's one of the Asian phone shops on Talbot Street.

I only asked was it unlocked, I never asked whether it was factory unlocked or jailbroken...

    Is it a good price?

Seems pretty reasonable, It has 32gb of memory.

O2 sell Iphones too, maybe one of their plans would suit you better:

If you pay €199 up front and then pay €40 euro a month you can get the 32gig 3GS Iphone (not unlocked), but you can jailbreak it simply online using blackra1n, I've done it with my ipod touch a million times.

If it's only jailbroken and unlocked rather than factory unlocked, you won't be able to install any new OS updates until the devs come up with jailbreaking/unlocking solutions for them (can take weeks). At which point you'll have to do all the unlocking stuff again yourself.

i.e. A factory unlocked phone would be much less hassle - so worth asking them.

I'm not sure I'd pay €579 for a phone thats been out as long as the 3GS, and due an upgrade in 4/5 months, tbh.

i got a factory unlocked 3g from italy when i was there in september 08. Have to say it was the single best decision i've made regarding the purchase of any device. upgrading is a breaze, no worries about getting the hacks to work etc. I've just laughed at all the people who have to wait to update etc.

Having said that i did jailbreak it to get a few different apps, MyWi inparticular, which will be particularly handy when i get me a wifi iPad!! I also plan on getting a new factory unlocked iPhone when they're released, not sure how yet though.

I was there in a couple of stores in Parma, they were really expensive. I said feck that. If you don't mind me asking... how much?

not at all, it was 569 for a 16 gig, which I suppose is a lot in hindsight, but for the benefit of the factory unlock, and staying on pre pay, it was well worth it. It was the same price as the 32 is now, and 18 months ago it was top spec, so to have a great improvement on technology for no increase in price (€10 is nothing!) It's pretty similar to today's 32gig. Also for a 2 year investment it's pretty sweet. I'm also a bit of a fan boy I'll admit :D
