    Hi

Im doing my weights routine and have notice that my chest is getting bigger but mainly growing outwards. Is there specific routines or exercises you can do to encourage pectoral width?
Is a wide grip bench or wide held dunbells best for chest width?
    Which works best incline/decline bench?

    cheers

'Growing outwards'....what does that mean?? Do you mean you look kinda hunched forward or summit?

I mean the mass seems to have packed on the front rather than at the outward side of the pectoral. If you looked at me from the side youd see the chest protruding front wards from a t-shirt,this is as expected however id like to get broader shoulders .Ive seen some people and they have broad shoulders with broad chests and their pecs are wider (looking from the front) whereas I have narrower pecs and wanted to broaden them out

That's usually because they have wide lats. Work on your back.

Yes, so exactly as I said then - you are hunched forward. I suspect you don't do much back work. Get deadlifting and other similar exercises.

Seem's like you've answered your own question there pal!.

I take it your not lifting too long?.

Its natural in the early days to have lagging body parts, mostly its only a personal thing as no one else usually notices these things.

Wide chest, you've said it there yourself - big shoulders & back, really it'll all come together.

No not lifting long, have been concentrating on muay thai and BJJ lately and am losing a good bit of weight so i wanted to put on a bit of solid mass AND get nice broad shoulders for teh Laydeeez:).Cheers for replies ,makes alot of sense

Were are you doing the M.T. & BJJ?.

If you stick at the weights and M.A. you'll find you'll develope functional strength & size more so than that of a bodybuilder.

If you want to add size to your shoulders then look no further than the press. Overhead, military or push press performed standing. An exercise much overlooked in favor of the bench press. Which is an inferior exercise in my opinion.

And for lats try rows or power cleans. Deadlifts are great too.
