I have a pain on the outside of my left foot just around where the arch of the foot is. I went to the local sports shop for some advice, were they said I was flat footed, then went to see a specialis were he said I had very high arches in my feet and would need custom made insoles at a price of 290 euro's. Still didn't tell me what the pain is. Struggling with training/ need some advice.

Why would you think you'd get better advice here than from a specialist?

You won't be getting medical advice on here... If you're not happy with the diagnosis see another specialist.

I think his point is that the specialist may have an ulterior motive for suggesting he has high arches, particularly when they cost E270.

It contradicts the advice he previously received saying he has flat feet.

www.coolrunnings.com has a whole database of articles on injuries. No replacement for expert advice, but might inform you in order to better question said specialists.

Maybe you should try finding a GAA or soccer pitch and run a few laps barefoot for a few days and see if the pain still occurs. Lots of other threads about barefoot running on here. It won't cost you anything but a bit of time.
