Might be a stupid question, but one I forgot to ask the dentist none the less.

I got a molar removed yesterday, obviously there is a whole there that has not completely healed.
I have rugby training tomorrow and was wondering if it was ok to play?

If not how long should I stay out for?

    Thanks in advance.

I would leave the training for another day or two. If it's a molar, the hole will be large, and with strenuous physical activity there is a chance that you could dislodge the clot at the extraction site, leading to a dry socket. This is probably one of the most painful complications with extraction site healing, it's extremely painful.

    Thanks for the reply Kila,
kinda freaking me out about this whole dry socket thing now. ;)

Its been 48 hours since the removal, had a bit of blood in my mouth today, and has been spitting quite a lot yesterday, read up on dry socket today that spitting should definately not be done, eek!
I have a slight throbing in the area, but zero pain. Here's hoping that I haven't developed a dry socket and a friend has told me that it looks like there is a lot of dried blood around the area, so hopefully this is the clot...

Definately going to give training a miss today, have a match saturday morning though and really don't want to skip that.

I had 3 molars removed as part of an operation and the pain is unreal even a week after it! I was told sports was a no-no for a good while but may have more to do with overall op.

I'd say it's not worth risking it.

Molar removal was Tuesday afternoon, still no pain at all, there is a sensation there, but its not painful at all.

Going to play my match in the morning and hope for the best.

    Thanks for the advice
