Im having SKY installed in 2 weeks(hopefully, if the other threads are anything to go by! ) and it will be one of the new Sky+HD boxes.
Will they use a single LNB or a quad?

Reason i ask is that i have another old standard box here that i would try and get the installation guy to run a cable to, just to receive the free channels(not taking a multiroom sub).
I do also have a quad LNB from my old house, and cable, bought from Satellite.ie, (currently still attached to the dish at my old gaff, awaiting removal whenever i can nab my BIL to do it) would he use that and run a second cable if i asked him nicely? ;)

The installer will need to use a quad lnb as a HD box requires two inputs. You are better off letting him use new dish, cable and lnb, it's no odds to him, better than introducing possible problems from recycled materials. To run an extra piece of cable to the other box, offer a cup of tea, ask him nicely, ie, "how much extra will you charge me" and see how it goes.

When I had Sky+ installed at home a couple of years ago, I practically had to force the installer to take a few quid for his trouble to run an extra cable into our kitchen. In the middle of a really heavy rainstorm too.
