Hi, I am scheduled to have a decayed tooth extraction tomorrow at 12pm but am currently in pretty bad pain. It flared up about this time yesterday and seems to have gotten worse. I didn't sleep much last night and highly doubt I will catch a wink tonight the way it is paining now. Am taking Panadol, some Pinamox and some paracetamol but nothing seems to be numbing the pain. At this point I have definitely taking the recommended dose so don't want to go taking more. The pain seems to come on string like a trobbing sensation and then ease for a few seconds. Really can't wait to have it pulled, even though it is going to be pretty horrible, just can't wait to be done with it.
So, long shot I know but anybody have any home remedies to help ease tooth ache?

Try so relaxation exercises. Is paracetamol suitable for tooth ache?

Try dipping some cotton wool in whiskey and put it near the area of pain, I got through a Christmas where I couldnt get a dentist til January using this once, it wont cure it but it helps an awful lot!

    I feel your pain.

Old wives tale advice is to eat some white bread. I don't know why it works but it works.

    Vodka does the job too

And alcohol prevents the paracetamol from working the way it is meant to.

Yeah I've hear the rubbing alcohol thing a good few times now but unfortunately there is not a drop in the house. I'm just trying to play games online and listen to music to take my mind off it. I think lying in bed trying to sleep just makes it worse and I'm a very light sleeper anyway so switching off with this pain is a no go. I ate a big dinner earlier despite not feeling hungry because I though the food might help my immune system and reduce the pain a bit. I think at this point it is an infection in the tooth because it came on so sudden and pain killer seem to be doing nothing. Lol, now I really regret not bringing home some over the counter Valium from a trip to Asia a few months ago.

Try ice water. it helps allleviate pain sometimes when it is a very acute abscess. otherwise it just makes it hurt more. but it's worth trying. failing that just double up the painkillers and continue with the video games.
