It looks nice, kinda like a cross between Logic and Pro Tools :)

thats my own skin. you can design the UI what ever way you want. it kinda helped with the transition from slow tools :D

I got it a while ago. It has some great things going for it. Love the oscillator in the plug-ins thing and the routing was the business until Logic 8 came along. I'm still not convinced though.

I like the channel strip. Is that part of your skin design?

It'd be cool if the D Command could have pictures on the channel strip like that (I think the Fairlight Dream console can do that). And they should've put it BELOW the faders, not above...

how'd you split it over 2 screens?

Had spent a while looking through the preferences options... couldn't find anything for that.

So as a Cubase SX3 user... Is there anything that jumps out as a reason why it might be useful to jump across?

if you use a certain type of cubase sx3 * wink , cough *

it allows better latency and processing power from my experiences

doesnt need a dongle - even a fake one ;);)

I've just started learning how to use Reaper also and am still trying to learn the very basics as its my first DAW. Just one question, when I go into the 'insert virtual instrument' tab I can go to Fruityloops which I have downloaded as a trial. Just wondering can you make short loops in fruityloops and use these as samples while recording in reaper. In other words, where do you make your drum tracks and general beats?
    Thanks

Never used FL myself, but do you have the option to export the beats as .wav?

If so, you should be able to import them into Reaper as an Audio track.

Thanks, yeah you can save them as WAV files and export them. For some reason though when I run FL studio and Reaper together Reaper stops working and freezes. Dunno if this is because it is just a trial version of FL or it is a problem with vista running the two DAW's. Lol, really wish I had a mac for this stuff.

Can Reason 3 be rewired to Reaper?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,277 ✭✭✭DamagedTrax

    yup it can.

and cool handle btw, the charlatans?

Indeed it is, how about that for a hammond intro.

Yes I read up on the SOS review of Reaper, I think I'll try it out, I've only ever messed about with Ableton Live LE, Sequel and couldnt get Sonar LE to work. It sounds like an nice piece of kit at a great price.

I've said it already, and I'll say it again - it's probably the only DAW that doesn't drive me nuts. Lots of features, great usability, great price (50€ or so for a non-commercial/small business version, insane value for money), stable enough to not get on our nerves and doesn't have stupid copy protection or artificial limitations to get in the way. For a home studio it's probably *the* DAW.

The only drawback is the lack of good bundled VSTi, just real basics like a primitive sampler and a very primitive synth (without filters). But you can always use good free ones (E-mu Proteus VX, NI Kore Player, NI Kontakt Player...).

@DamagedTraxs - just listening to the stuff on your myspace. That's really good - you do that in Reaper? What else do you use? That stuff is really good.
