Of course it has that colossus of power, the 1.6 Drive model with its spectacular 107 bhp:rolleyes: meaning that it may hit the motorway speed limit going down a hill if you're lucky:D, but Volvo have managed to tweak the 2 cars and soon it will be below the 120 g/km barrier. First big cars to get into band A I think.

Amazing stuff for cars that size, even if it does mean that you will never get anywhere at all, but i don't think Volvo drivers are going to notice since they like Toyota drivers specialise in driving slowly for no apparent reason:D.

    Thats just silly.
Better to have the manufacturers improving large engine permormance while getting it into band c & d than this crap such as 530d etc.
How close are BMW to having the new 520d in band A or is it band A?

This might seem like a silly question but I'll ask it anyway,

If these cars go down to Tax Band A ,does this also lower the VRT on the car and thus lower the cost of buying a new one?

Yes, and maybe are the answers; the maybe because things like auto stop and start cost money and the reduction in VRT may not be enough to cover these extra costs, either way it is a good thing if it means less road tax and VRT going to the Government.

I agree with mickdw, imagine how low the CO2s in a bigger engined model could be if all this effort was applied to them? If a V6 petrol 4X4(even if it is a Hybrid) can get into band B then anything is possible:eek::D!

PS: soon enough for the badge snobs who ignore the fact that Mondeos, Insignias are much better cars for less money, the 318d will be in VRT band A and the 318d automatic and 320d automatics will be in VRT band B, down a band in both cases, and a 320d manual is coming in VRT band A, meaning that there will be absolutely no excuses to go for the poverty spec low power Paddy special 316d :D.
