I currently have a bmw 325ci and want to get an m3. I rang up quinn insurance and asked how much would it be to transfer my insurance to the m3 and they wouldnt quote me on it. They asked did i already have the car and i said no. If i said yes i bought the car already would they insure me?

probably not, but they might have offered temp insuance for a month till you sort it out...
M3 is a high insurance number.... some companies like quinn are very nervous about insuring them....
ring around... and find an insurance company willing to take the risk..

once you buy the car Quinn will insure you, they have to. ive heard of this happening alot lately. but the big downside is they can up you premium by whatever they want and come renewal they have to re-insure you but may price it so its too much.

They also probably don't want to tie into a specific extra charge for changing cars, as the price they'd quote would be for that day only, and only valid if you changed cars on that day. The actual rating for the car could go up, or down in the mean time, and this would cause problems if it was to happen. I.E. an argument over the price.

The broker I worked with would only give prices on a strictly guideline basis if the customer wasn't changing car that day, and we would warn customers that the rates may fluctuate so the price for the perm sub could change.

Quinn are like this. years ago when bongi was learning to drive, they wouldn't give my dad a quote to add me on, until I was actually ready to go onto his insurance

Friend of mine has an m3 and he says Britannia are the only crowd that will insure him...

And gumbo are you sure a company has to insure once you purchased a car.. If i was to somehow afford a veyron tomorrow and rang quinn they would legally be obliged to cover me??

100% sure, once you are currently insured with a company they have to transfer it to a different car during the term of the insurance period, although they can inflate the prices to force you not to.

its all in the terms and conditions of the policy, i think there available online too.

i had to do the exact same thing a few years ago when i went from a 90bhp 1.4 civic to a 200bhp Integra Type R with Quinn.

This will be different with brokers, who sell policies with certain limits to get good prices from the insurance companies, i.e. can get a discount for customers once car is not worth over 100k, not over 4l etc. It would be a type of group scheme. This will be in the T's&C's of the policy at the start. So you accept these when you affect the policy, and if you want to change to a car outside the parameters set, tough luck!

In my professional career, I've only seen 1 case like this, and we sorted him out with a policy from another insurance co we dealt with, and cancelled the original and negotiated for no cancellation fees to apply.

This is a broker situation, and again, depends on if the broker has such a scheme/deal in place with a perticular insurer. Direct insurer's will probably sort you out, but I'm not 100% certain as I've never worked for a direct insurance company. They'll probably tell you to feck off at renewal and not offer it, if they create a hullabaloo when changing the vehicle.

Travelers Insurance Company will quote you, think they only go through brokers though. Friend of mine insured a '07 M5 with them for €1100. He's 28 Full Bonus.

    im 28 with a full NCB (5 years) and i got a quote of 900e fully comp from www.123.ie on a 2005 M5 valued at 40k.

this one to be exact - E60 BMW M5 its been reduced since though.

I thought legally an Insurance Company had to quote you but tbh I'd leave Quinn asap as they are brutal if you've to claim.

123.ie's main private car policy is through Traveler's. Difference is in the value and location maybe. Sweet machine. Some sound from it!

That M5 looks sweet good luck keeping fuel in the tank and tyres on the rear wheels.

How well will that go down the quays at 30kph, with all those horses trying to break into a gallop.

So bought the car and rang up quinn to transfer my insurance. Rang up before and they wouldnt quote me as i said i hadnt bought the car. Said i had bought the car and paid an extra 147 euro up to end of april. So if you say you have bought the car they will simply transfer it over. See how much it is on renewal then.
